Di spazi inutilizzati in attesa di recupero a Roma ce ne sono molti, ma due sono sicuramente quelli più eclatanti.
Il primo è sicuramente il palazzo che ha ospitato fino a qualche anno fa il Poligrafico Zecca dello Stato. Si tratta di un enorme edificio situato in piazza Verdi dallo stile a metà strada tra l'eclettico e il neoclassico che aspetta ormai da tempo di essere riqualificato.
Secondo il progetto di qualche anno fa dovrebbe diventare un albergo di lusso (la catena internazionale Four Season sembrava fino a qualche tempo fa la più accreditata a concludere l'affare). Nello specifico, su una metratura di oltre 60.000 metri quadrati, sempre secondo il progetto, dovevano sorgere: un albergo a 5 stelle della superficie di 25.000 metri quadrati, 250 appartamenti e 4.000 metri quadrati di negozi. Per il momento tutto tace.

Il secondo è poi indubbiamente l'Istituto Geologico di Largo Santa Susanna. Si tratta di un edificio Liberty dei primi anni del secolo scorso della superficie di circa 7.000 metri quadrati.
In tal caso si parla, nei progetti, di un department store di lusso, ma anche in questo caso non vi è sulla di certo.
